First Impression: Two Bobbi Brown Favorites

Yesterday I made an impromptu visit to the Bobbi Brown counter in Nordstrom, with all intentions to just browse and see what's new. What I ended up leaving with, however, are two of my new favorite skincare/beauty products that I'm head over heels in love with. The Bobbi Brown Instant Detox Clay Mask and Lip Balm both left me with a great first impression and I'm about to tell you why!

Thankfully, I was able to take home a sample of the clay mask before fully committing. While it's well worth the cost and you get a lot of product, it's still (for me, at least) a pretty penny to spend up front on a mask I'm not using daily. I can confidently say though, that once payday rolls around I'll be making a trip back to purchase the full size mask. Even after using the sample jar to cover my entire face, I still was left with extra - which means I can treat myself to another skin detox later in the week. The texture of the mask is heaven. It's dark grey in color, thick like clay - hence, clay mask - and cool on your skin. It's recommended to leave it on to dry for about 3-5 minutes, but I left mine on for a little longer. Real Housewives of New Jersey had just started, so naturally I had to wait for a commercial break before I was letting myself leave the couch.

When I went upstairs to wash the mask off it had fully dried, except for right under my eyes where I had really layered it. In certain areas I could see where it looked like the product had literally soaked up the oil and dirt that was in my pores. The final test for me though was rinsing! My problem spot has always been right around my nose because I just tend to get a lot of blackheads. I knew that I'd be able to look at my nose right away and be able to tell if I liked the mask. In all honesty, it blew me away! My pores looked smaller and while not all of my blackheads were gone (that's going to take a lot of work) they were certainly diminished. Overall, my skin just felt so good - soft, gentle, clean and even hydrated. I didn't end up putting any lotion on afterwards because I didn't feel like my skin needed it whatsoever.

My other goodie I picked up yesterday was the Bobbi Brown Lip Balm. I'm sure that seems so extremely simple, but you can never go wrong with a good lip balm! I'm sure I've mentioned this before, but I'm a heavy coffee drinker. I drink more coffee than water to be completely honest, which is so not good for anyone's body. When I go on coffee binging episodes I definitely get dehydrated which in turn causes my lips to be extremely, extremely dry and chapped. It's hard to reverse chapped lips instantly. Even with all the chap-stick, sugar scrubs and bottles of water to hydrate, overturning chapped lips is a job in itself.

For a girl that loves lipstick, especially matte lipstick and liquid lipsticks, chapped lips are not a good look. I'd always heard amazing reviews about the Bobbi Brown Lip Balm and had been wanting to splurge since it's something I would not only use on a daily basis but clearly needed.

I went ahead and tried the product in-store, right over my worn down lipstick. It felt light and soft instantly. I loved the feel of the lip balm right away and was able to stop fidgeting with what was a dry, peeling lip before. Since my first time using it, I've applied it regularly throughout the day. I've used the lip balm before putting on my lipstick, in the middle of the day, after drinking coffee, before bed - you name it. It's kept my pout pristine and hydrated like never before.

Hope this gives you gals a little insight for the next time you're thinking about purchasing your next face mask or ultimate lip saver! As always, if you have further questions that I didn't get around to answering about the products you can comment or head over to my Contact page.
