This has been highly requested from you guys and I'm so sorry that I've kept you waiting! But, finally here we are! I'm excited to break down my morning and night time skincare routine in detail and share my product line-up that keeps me revived, fresh and clear of breakouts (90% of the time).
This might seem backwards, but I'm going to start with my night time routine as I think it'll make more sense in terms of the bigger picture. I ALWAYS wash my makeup off before bed. I've made it a habit and at this point I won't even get a good night's sleep if I were to go to bed with it on. I can't relax or get comfortable knowing there's makeup all over my face and I want time for my skin to breathe. I also hate waking up just to not have a fresh face to start the day.
PM Routine
The first thing I do when getting ready for bed is wash my face. To get my makeup off I cleanse, as I think it's the most effective (compared to putting any sort of makeup remover solution on a pad and starting that way). I buy inexpensive wash cloths from Target, so I don't have to stress about how stained they might get from my makeup.
There's a few cleansers I switch between using. The two main ones I consistently use are the Tula Purifying Face Cleanser and the Soap & Glory Peaches and Clean Cleanser. The Tula is amazing and I love how it's perfected my skin - their products are legit. However, the biggest downside for me is when it comes to getting my mascara off. I don't think it does a stellar job in that area, and I'm not one to scrub or pull at my lashes, so that's where the Peaches and Clean Cleanser comes in.
Typically, I'll use the Tula Cleanser first to start getting my makeup up off, and then once I've rinsed, I follow up with using the Soap & Glory cleanser to make sure I got everything and get my mascara off.
I don't always double cleanse however I work it in my routine usually twice a week. Double cleansing is great and another way to super cleanse all the impurities off and out of your skin. When I do that, I use the Josie Maran Cleansing Oil. A little goes a long way and I've fallen in love with this product.
Once the cleansing is complete, I'll use a Neutrogena Makeup Removing Wipe to get off any excess residue left behind. Then, I tone! For toner, I've been using the Tula Pro Glycolic 10% pH Resurfacing Gel. I know this is a bit pricey, but it's worth the splurge and will last you forever. I've had mine since August, have used it every night, and don't think I'm halfway through the bottle. On the other hand, if you're looking for a save option that is more budget friendly, I'd recommend the Pixi Glow Tonic or Rose Tonic.
The next thing I like to do is apply a face oil. Depending on what I'm needing most (hydration, anti-aging, brightening) I may switch it up. The ones I've been using most recently are the Herbivore Orchid Facial Oil, Josie Maran Argan Oil or the Dermadoctor Kakadu C High Potency Evening Oil.
I then move onto applying an under eye cream. Lately, I've been using the Mad Hippie Eye Cream or the Tula Muti-Spectrum Eye Renewal Serum.
To finish everything off before snuggling up into bed, I apply a face cream or lotion. Typically, my go to is the Tula Hydrating Day & Night Cream. It's the perfect whipped texture and feels like it seals in all my anti-aging serums and oils.
If I'm feeling fancy I might bring out my Clarisonic for a deep cleanse or work in my Vanity Planet Forever Young Tool. I'm not the best at consistently using those things, but truly do love them and can't recommend them enough. Some other things I occasionally work into my routine are exfoliating scrubs and masks. My personal favorite exfoliating scrubs are the Kate Somerville Exfolikate and the Dr. Brandt Microdermabrasion. If you want to see some of my favorite masks, check out my previous post where I've listed them out here.
AM Routine
My morning routine is not as intense, mainly because I don't rewash my face. I definitely tone and make sure I'm working with a clean slate before doing my makeup, but washing my face again just feels too harsh on my skin. My skin (and face especially) is super duper sensitive. So, if I were to rewash it every single morning I'd be so red and blotchy.
The first thing I do in the morning before hopping straight into makeup is take a Neutrogena Makeup Remover Wipe and get off any excess product from the night before. They're really refreshing and leave my skin feeling extra clean.
Next, I hop right into toning and typically use the Pixi Glow or Rose Tonic, or the Kopari Coconut Rose Toner. For Pixi, you have to apply the toner to a cotton ball or pad and run it over your skin, whereas the Kopari Toner you just mist onto the face. I love both, but Kopari takes the cake and is my fave.
Once I've toned, I apply a moisturizer. My go to lately has been the Clinique 72-hour Moisturizer but my other frequently used one is the Saturday Skin Waterfall Glacier Water Cream. Both are extremely hydrating and feel so nice on the skin. They also have a gel like texture which I like having under my makeup (as opposed to a sticky lotion).
I then move onto the under eyes. I love using the PUR Hydrolift Gel to smooth and prep my under eyes. It's cooling which feels nice, and is very light weight. Once I've applied that, I apply an actual eye cream. I almost always use the Helix AM/PM Eye Gel by Volition. It's AMAZING and has done wonders for any discoloration, bags and wrinkles.
Once I've done that, I just apply my primer and I'm good to go and ready to start my makeup!
I know I packed a lot of info into this post but I hope it was helpful and shed some light into what I'm doing day and night to keep my skin looking it's best. I hope you all enjoyed ready and as always, let me know if you have any questions! Love ya'll!
